Sometimes when the Tower dryer is filled with very wet grain for the first time (25% to 30%), the discharge system locks up. What caused this and how can I prevent this from happening in the future?
Wet grain is heavy and packs in around the sweep agitator finger. This prevents the sweep from moving. The grain in the cooling section must be recycled. Therefore, on initial fill, run the discharge at minimum speed so this grain does not get packed and lock up the sweep finger.
